Pedagogy and other special features

Teaching Methodology

KRM endeavours to make teaching a participative and experiential exercise. This essentially involves very innovative pedagogy to be adopted by the faculty. The teaching methodology would have a balanced mix of lectures, group discussions, presentations, case analysis, simulation exercises, business games, field visits and project work. In addition to core and elective subjects, each student will undergo a “PROJECT WORK”.

Students are encouraged to be involved in all the curricular and extra-curricular activities to make use of their latent capabilities.

Mentor Programme

At KRM we believe that the student-faculty interaction outside the classroom is very essential for the overall development of the students academically and also attitudinally.

As mentors, faculty at KRM provides a real-world perspective on the business arena to students. The students have basically three kinds of needs viz. academic, emotional and career needs. It is in the context of these needs that the role of a faculty, as a mentor, comes into existence. At KRM, faculty guides/counsels the students as mentors during the period of their programme.

Lecture/ Tutorials

Apart from regular classroom teaching, KRM appreciates the need for faculty-student interaction outside the class-rooms. In order to make it possible, extra sessions are held as and when needed and the students are required to compulsorily attend such sessions to reinforce whatever they have learnt in class rooms. This enables the student to have a firm grip over the subject matter.

Practical Exposure through Cases and Industrial Visits

In order to co-relate the classroom studies with the real business situations, KRM emphasises on case method of teaching and industrial visits. Faculty members frequently discuss different case studies with the students and provide them enough opportunities to nourish and implement their knowledge to handle the business problems. KRM also facilitates industrial visits for the students that give them sufficient exposure to what is happening in the business environment.

Guest Lectures

KRM organizes various guest lectures by eminent academicians, journalists and industrialists so as to provide the students with a balanced view of contemporary topics. They share their professional experiences with the students and this helps the students gain insights of professional and business environment.

Case Writing Projects

(For PGPMS-MBA Programme) KRM has pioneered a unique programme wherein the students are assigned a live research project of developing Case Studies under the guidance of faculty members. Later on, this initiative will expand to include research reports on issues of interest to the Corporate as well as the Institute. Depending on the quality of research output, the case studies will be published in the form of books with acknowledgment of students’ contribution. Those selected students who will be assigned the project will be paid a stipend of Rs.3000 to Rs.4000 per month during the tenure of the research which may extend up to 10 months.

Foreign Tour

In line with the objective of providing global exposure to students, a foreign study tour is organized for the students on payment of the requisite amount by them. The objective is to provide the students with insights of the International business environment with emphasis on understanding the cultural and geographical diversity and complexities of the trade mechanism of the visited country.
